Objectives Overview:
How do we imagine the world in the early 21st century? This subject introduces students to a range of writing from various locations around the world. We shall read these texts in the contexts of cultural globalization and recent debates about national and global cultures. Students will critically engage several genres of literature including: novels, drama, short story, creative non-fiction, and poetry. This course concentrates on reading, writing, speaking, listening, and observational analysis. The writing process is an important focus with emphasis on focus, support, organization, and conventions. Writing skills are developed using the writing process in various creative, critical, and personal response assignments. Vocabulary and grammar are integrated contextually into the readings.
